House League
Grosse Pointe Soccer Association House Program is open to all Grosse
Pointe residents and surrounding communities. The program is designed
around FUN and skills development for ages 4 to 14 years old. All teams
are Co-Ed and we use volunteer coaches. Playing time is divided equally
among all players. We offer two seasons per year, spring and fall. The
spring season starts mid April and ends the first weekend in June. The
fall season starts after Labor Day and ends Mid October.
Currently GPSA does not offer House programs over 14 years old
Team Placement
The
main criteria we use for team formation is:
- Divide the players by age group, and elementary school
and middle school area.
- Determine areas for the volunteer coaches.
- Form teams around the coaches, using players from
the same school area where possible, while maintaining the same gender
ratio for all teams.
- Fill teams with players from areas that do not have
enough coaches.
- If we have more players than coaches, we will refund
money to the players we are unable to place.
- Late registrants are added to teams that need players,
regardless of school area. Some may not be placed.
- The key thing to remember is that our goal is to
place as many players as possible to promote good sportsmanship, healthier
youth, improvement in soccer skills, and to have FUN!
- Due to the popularity
and size of our program, we are unable to honor special requests
for team placement
Player / Parent Conduct
Please remember that sportsmanship is the essence of the game. Coaches are
to be positive role models for their players and encourage sportsmanship
by showing respect and courtesy for all players, coaches, officials, and
spectators at every practice and game. Coaches are responsible for the conduct
of their players and spectators. Unsportsmanlike conduct with any official,
coach, player or parent, such as booing, taunting, refusing to shake hands,
or using profane language or gestures will not be tolerated. There are no
occasions that require spectators to address referees, opposing coaches or
players!
Decisions of the referees are final and should not be argued. Any questions
from coaches concerning the rules of the game or the calls and actions of a
particular referee should be directed to the MSC Head Referee and NOT to the
referee either during or after the game. Any abuse, harassment, or demeaning
behavior, either verbal or physical, on the part of a coach or spectator towards
the referee will be cause for disciplinary action against the offender .
