GPSA REFEREE MEETING NOTICE - FALL 2011

Dear GPSA Referees,

The Fall Season is almost upon us.  MYSLTravel Soccer starts September 10th and GPSA House Soccer starts September 17th.  I will be begin making Travel assignments this week and House assignments next week.

Please plan on attending the GPSA referee meeting at the Grosse Pointe Farms Community Center on September 7th at 8:15 PM  *Note the time and date change*, to go over rules and changes for the season.

If you are not planning on officiating this season, please send me an email at ctsohn@sbcglobal.net notifying me of any changes in your status.

GPSA REFEREE INFORMATION

                    
Referee duties within GPSA are divided into two primary functions. Cynthia Sohn serves as Director of Referees and as Referee Assignor. As the Director of Referees, responsibilities cover referee oversight, rules compliance, referee evaluations and continued education.  As Referee Assignor, the responsibilities include game assignments, scheduling and referee certification. The goal of GPSA’s referee supervision is to provide high quality and decisive officiating to GPSA’s Travel, Metro and House League programs.  Cynthia Sohn's contact information is listed below. Individuals interested in becoming referees with GPSA need to complete one of the Entry Level Certification classes listed in the link below.

For Grade 9 Referees:


Grade 9 referees have the option of either re-certifying or bridging to the Grade 8 Level.  You can Bridge if you meet the criteria (age, ref tenure, etc).  If you choose to re-certify, please click on the links below for information on upcoming classes and guidelines.

It is very important that all referees continue to keep your referee certification updated annually in order to be eligible to continue officiating within GPSA.  Most certification  and re-certification classes occurs from December through February time frame. 


Thank you in advance for all of your time and effort as a referee on the field and sideline.  Without you our youth would not be able to enjoy the wonderful game of soccer!


GPSA provides referees for the following age groups:

  • House & Metro: U6 thru U14 - All Refs
  • Travel - MYSL: U9 thru U11 - All Refs
  • Travel - MYSL: U12 – Assistant Refs only

Macomb County Referee Association provides referees for the following Travel Games:

  • MYSL U12 – Center Refs
  • MYSL U13 thru U19 – All refs
