USSF Soccer Referee Training Classes
Check the MSYSA web site for times and places for classes. The cost is listed on the website and pre-registration is required. The website address is www.msysareferee.net.
The Grade 9 category was recently created by USSF for recreational level games. A Grade 9 referee will be able to be the center referee for under-9 and 10 year age group and younger recreational games, or a grade nine referee can be an assistant referee for under-14 year and younger age group recreational and travel games.
After officiating games for one season as a Grade nine referee, a bridge class can be taken to obtain a Grade eight certification if a referee is at least 14 years old. Grade eight referees are qualified to assistant ref all youth games and Center ref age appropriate games scheduled by GPSA.

Junior Referee Training Class
The Grosse Pointe Soccer Association (GPSA) sponsors a Junior Referee Training class. Pre-registration is not required and the minimum age for Junior Referees is 11 years. Junior Referees are utilized by GPSA to keep time, check equipment, and manage substitutions for the following house games: U6, U7 and U8. The pay rate is $10 per game. At this time, there is no need for additional Junior Referees. However, if you are interested, please email the director of referee at the email address listed below. The director will keep your name on a list and if a requirement becomes available, you will be notified. An email will be sent regarding assignments for the Spring and Fall seasons. - House U6 thru U14 - All Refs
- MYSL U9 thru U11 - All Refs
- MYSL U12 – Assistant Refs only
